HAVE YOU SEEN ME?!
I may be cute and fuzzy but DO NOT TOUCH ME!
Now is the caterpillars busy season and in the Houston area there has been a recent influx of these cute fuzzies. They are called Asps and are VERY poisonous. They like to live in oak trees, hackberry trees and are often found in various bushes.
Symptoms range from the severe pain and swelling at the location of the sting with blood-tinged spots, headaches, nausea, vomiting to the more serious symptoms, seizures, shock, and even difficulty breathing.
If you happen to touch one, immediately apply an ice pack to the location. There may also be very small hairs stuck in your skin. Apply tape to the location of the sting and slowly peel off to try to remove as many hairs as possible. Oral antihistamines and topical antihistamines are also recommended.
DON’T HESITATE TO SEE A DOCTOR
**THESE ARE ALSO VERY TOXIC TO DOGS**
